marineland penguin 350, any good? $40 bucks.

my neighbor is selling a new in box penguin 350 bio wheel filter for $40. is this a good price? it fits my budget, but im more concerned about how good it works.

anyone know if this is a decent deal?

ok i see. i tried to look the filter up on petsmart online to chek the price but i could only find the cartridges.

so i guess its not a deal, but its not a rip off either?

i guess the next question is, should i buy it?

i just got a free 35 gal tank just sittin here, so i was planning to set it up pretty soon. honestly, i just dont want to spend too much cash right now, but you know how it is....i cant just leave an empty tank in the garage.

its new in box if you get a receipt then grab that thing and hook up your tank Any problems you got yourself covered. While I would not consider these filters the best compared to aqua clear. I use a few 200's a 350 and a 400 on some of my setups.

I would show those two links to your neighbor and then offer him $30... unless you want to do him a favor and give him the full $40...

I've had several Pen 330/350 filters, they aren't bad. I definitely suggest you learn to make or rebuild your own cartridges as buying replacements gets expensive fast.

Personally, I would buy an Aqua Clear off of Ebay if I were looking for a good HOB for cheap, but buying it from the neighbor helps him out and gets it in your hand immediately.

My cartridges last a month I high pressure blast them with water every couple days. I have some 200's on my growout tanks and all they need is some bathtub water or hosing off
