I have a Marineland c360 canister filter on my 75g and it sounds like it has rocks in it. I opened it up and the impeller seems to be the problem. My question is it seems to be solid with no play in it but when the filter is running it keeps up a noise like there's a rock in there and the flow is drastically reduced. Just trying to make sure before I order a impeller.

no way to make sure except making sure you've put it back together correctly. sometimes just one foam washer canput a stop to the whole thing.
is this a new filter? some marineland filters (HOB's though) I've owned have taken a bit to quiet down. they need bio-slime to run smoothly.
did you check for particles in the impeller seat? any scratches on the impeller magnet?

I is used but had been doing fine up until one day out of the blue it stopped working. The top of the canister was a little warmore and the impeller was not moving. Even with it plugged in and trying to push it with something small to get it going it would not start. After I removedthe impeller and put it back in it would start but it would stop when I put the piece in that locks it in place.

I had a Fluval 406 that had the same issue. Ordered a new impeller and gasket set because it was three years old and I figured it was just time to change it. Swapped all the parts and the noise continued. Took it apart a couple more times to check for installation errors or random debris to no avail. On a just cuz basis I plugged it in with the head off the canister and water started gushing out of the epoxy seal on the head that sealed the motor. The water had seeped in and was shorting the motor. :(

I was unimpressed with my c360 and retired it, cannibalizing the media and hoses for other applications.
