The biggest problem for me with biowheels is that for whatever reason my wheels always just quit on me within a month, the second is that they are a bit louder than other filters. They do a good biological mechanical filtration though.
 
I have 4 of them. as mentioned above the bio wheels keep stopping on mine as well. Plus they create tiny,tiny bubbles that wont go away. I just ordered an AC 110 and going to try it out.
 
Hmm... I have a Marineland Emperor "Pro'' 400 and it has been well over a month, have not had any problems with the bio wheels stopping. I have noticed the micro bubbles though, I just figure that's helping oxygenate the water.... Once I start stocking my tank more heavily I plan on adding a canister filter in addition to the HOB, so far a pretty good experience with my marineland stuff though.
