Market Shrimp as fish food

How good is market shrimp really for fish as food?

i use market uncooked peel shrimp all day.

mixed up with nls pellets inside and squid/octo and smelt.

i get some frozen shrimp stuff and cut it up for my little oscar. i feel safer about the frozen stuff since the bacteria would have died in the freezer.

I don't believe bacteria dies in freezers. It becomes dormant and slows the growth but I don't think it kills it.

I bought Large raw zipperback shrimp the other day. The nutrition Facts on the back say 13 shrimp have 80 calories, 1.5g fat, and 16g protein. Hope that helps

Yea, freezing only kills the parasites, not the bacteria.

Cooking can kill the bacteria, but I don't know if that's necessary.
