IN A PLACE
When people say they feed market shrimp, do they buy cooked (pinkish orange) or raw/uncooked (silvery gray)? Just wondering if there is a difference in nutrition or introducing something bad into the water.

I just got a fire eel and fed it both types to see which one it preferred...no difference..it gobbled up everything!

Buy raw shrimp. Cooking will break down some vitamins and other "good things" in the shrimp.

Yes get rawed, uncooked. Also at the Asian markets, they are usually cheaper if you have access to one nearby.

And buy pilled too. the little B***ards are almost $10 a bag :(

I buy the bait prawns that you get from the freezers of gas stations and bait stores. Works well for me, they eat them.

Your local grocery should carry farm raised, raw, beheaded, de-veined uncooked shrimp in the 40-50 count. I keep mine in the freezer and thaw in ot-warm H2O as needed. One bag + One Ray (10+) inches = 2-3 wks.
One bag = $5 or so.
