Who here feeds their aros market shrimp? If you do, do you feed it with the entire shell still on or no? I guess this would depend on the size of the aro and whether he can take it down whole or not, but let me know cause I would like to feed my aro market shrimp and dont want to feed with the shell (head, tail and all) without first making sure it wont be a problem.

Market shrimp is a huge part of my aros diet. I buy the raw prepared shrimp that only has the tail part. I remove the spike part of the tail and sometimes feed them partially shelled, but not the whole shell.

Oo and one more thing (sorry, not trying to bump up my post), kenyan, how much do you feed your aro, just one or two shrimp a day?

I feed my small black 2 shrimp a day. I try to break it up into two feedings...once before work and once when I get home, but that doesn't always happen. :nilly:

I feed my bigger guys every other day. My silver will take maybe 2-3 shrimp, where my jar will eat until he pops...but I try to limit him to about 4 shrimp but he always steal some from either my gar or marbled pim. :D

I feed my Jar market shrimp every other day. He usually gets about 2 shrimps and its fed to him with shell on and head(whole head) and tail spike removed. Since the shrimp i feed to my jar are a bit big for him to take whole i cut the shrimp into 2-3 pieces.

There was a thread here on this before... I cant find it though... anyway, quantity of shrimp has to do with size of fish, I ahve a black aro about a foot. He gets a mixed diet... crickets, nightcrawlers, mealworms, beef heart, tilapia strips. When i feed him fresh seafood I cut the shrimp of tilapia into 1/2" peices. with no shell or tail ( why risk it? I ahve heard stories of the tail/ spike causing digestive issues with aros) and put them in a bowl, mix with seachem or garlic extract let them sit overnight then feed. My aro will usually eat 2-3 shrimp per feeding. I try to mixup the diet as much as possile...good luck....

Here in Toronto, Canada I visited several supermarkets looking for MP (market prawns). For over a month, all I found were live shrimps and no store ever used the word 'prawn' over here. Heard the difference between a prawn and shrimp was that the former was a little bigger and from freshwater. Shrimps are found in saltwater and prawns in freshwater.

Hilarious, after visiting several T&T Supermarkets I now actually found one shop that labelled it as prawns and the rest were shrimps. Now that I finally found some prawns, here's my question:

Have an HBRTG aro that I brought home last month. It's now only 6 inches, but is it suitable for me to start feeding the live market prawns at that size? So far, it's basically only been eating mealworms as its primary food, with the occasionally frozen bloodworm.

I feed raw de-shelled shrimp to my aro. Just for your info shrimp come in many different sizes. (21-30 count, 41-50), etc. So when you ask someone how many shrimp they feed and they say 2 it can be a whole lot different depending on the size of the shrimp they are feeding.
