What growth rate have you experienced?

My ornate is in the 8 to 10" range and has been there for a few months. Not that fast of a grower in my experience.

What size tank do you keep the gourami in your avatar in? (if it is your fish)

I have 5 ornate bichir. I bought them about 1 inch in size. They grow about 1 inch a month. Now they measure approximately 15 - 20 inches. I notice if you feed them meal worm, they tend to grow faster. They eat the mealworm from my arowana left overs that sink down to the bottom.

The GG picture in the avatar is not mine. How I wish it is mine. I have a similar GG. 2/3 of the size in the avatar. Mine is very gentle and rarely aggressive.

You're saying that by feeding mealworms, you have at least one or more Ornate's that grew from 1" to 20" in 20 months??

Are you sure your time/growth calculations are right?

I wouldn't think mealworms would bulk them up as much as say, beefheart... or shrimp, or silverside.
