I need your help/ suggestion guys. I'm having a hard time deciding whether to get a Marmorata or Lenticulata. These two really appeal to my taste. I'm after the pike with the most impressive colors. Unfortunately, I can only choose one.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

MAMORATA they have the best colors i have ever seen.

Thanks to your replies! Milokai, very impressive marmorata. Do you know what variant Rapps' marmorata is? Maybe other forumers know what variant is the coolest.

Thanks again!

The one that Milokai and R1_Ridah have are Rio Tapajos, The ones at Rapps are Rio Xingu.
The one that I have is Rio Trombeta. (which is my favorite see my Avatar) although the Tapajos are very gorgeous also.
I have been looking for months... for some Trombeta Marms, But it seems that Brazil has really locked down its borders on exportation of its fish. So the only thing that I have seen in a Loooonnngggg time is the ones that Rapps has. So if you get some from Rapps be sure you post pics. I have been waiting for someone to get some and I can see how they look
As for as Lents, there are quite a few on here who will tell that they are better looking.
Which if you get the good ones they are gorgeous, but the ones that were around this summer and fall were a strigata/lent (see the thread called I think The Great Debate)
They are both gorgeous though but I would take Rosemarie over either, but as these aren't around here in the states and would cost 500-600 bucks apiece if they were, I'll stick with the Marms or Lents.

First pic is Trombeta ( hasn't gotten nice red abdomen yet)
Second pic is Tapajos (not all are this good looking)
Xingu from Rapps.

SS-thanks for the marm breakdown. Interesting about Brasil, Ken from fish farm was saying some similar things on another thread. I wonder why Brasil is so vigilant, I can't imagine a few thousand crenicichlaphiles world wide could do one hundreth the damage commercial fishers do...anyone have thoughts on this subject of fish ethics?

Thanks for that very informative reply ShadowStryder. Is the Xingu Marmorata the least attractive of the three? Your Trombeta is truly amazing. That's what I want!

GL on finding the Trombetas or Tapajos, like I said I have been looking for a long time. The bad thing is when I bought mine I had the oportunity to purchase several. Being the Dope that I am I didn't. Now you can't find them.:irked: :( You see larger ones occassionally like R1 bought from Mikolai, but not in the juvenile range.
But if you do I better be the first one you PM. HAHA :)

I really couldn't say if xingu are the least attractive as I have never seen them as adults. The pictures on Rapps sight of them is probably a generic pic. But I was told that they would be similar to the ones he has posted.
But you have to remember that just because a species is from the same river and region doesn't mean they will all look exactly the same. They could have small variations or subtle color differences.
