Geez thats awesome. How long does it take to do a water change on that? LoL! Two pythons going? What type of filtration you got? I hope you don't have chlorine in your water, cuz thats a lot of dechlorinator...lol.
I wish I could keep my 300gal crystal clear. I've got so much tannins in my water though from all the driftwood I collected, its always a brownish tint. The water here has a little yellow coloration to it as well, so that might have something to do with it as well.
It takes a few hours for the whole process. I just use a 3/4" rubber hose to drain and fill. I am on city well water that does contain chlorine. When i fill it back up, I allways add a good amout of Stress Coat. I have ben doing it this way for about 15 years. My fish are 100% healthy. Not a one has any HITH. And every one of them is in flawless shape. It just works out for me.
For the filtration, I have 2 Ocean clear canisters with uv starilizers, each hooked up to a mag 18 pump. I also have an overflow in each corner of the tank going to two home made wet/dry filters with a common pump @3800 gph. I made the wet/dry out of 55 gallon plastic tanks i had at work. The water goes through a layer of coarse felt followed by a layer of fine felt. Under the felt lays about 30 gallons of bio-balls. This tank stays clearer than any other tank i have ever had.
I had a brownish yellow tint for a while when i added my drift wood as well. It seemed to go away after about 3 -4 water changes. I got lucky and found the piece of driftwood on the right. I cleaned it real good and let it soak for about a month outside. Threw it in and it worked out great.
Looks nice Chiefmojo. Filtration seems to work flawlessly, are the 55 gallon tanks you talked about the drums in the photos. I have access to some that I considered using for a sump setup on my next large tank.
Hey jer, since your water has a yellow tint to it I hope you buy bottled to drink.
