So I took your advice and bought 2 maroons from the LFS. I bought them on Sunday, both are babies and about 1.5" long and were getting along fine. They would just hide behind the Live rock on the bottom of the tank. This morning I noticed one of the clowns was on top swimming sideways. What should I do? I've added marine max water conditioner and the immune system booster. I am going to drain out some water to make sure there is more water flow. Anything else you guys suggest? They're not really eating either. I've tried pellets, frozen brine shrimp, and frozen mysis shrimp.

Check water params, get a store to test for you.

less flow , dont make it harder for them to swim if they are already struggling.

PH , this is the number one problem with "floating" "drunk" "unbalanced" fish.

Is the tank cycled

MOST IMPORTANT: Test your tap water as well... somtimes people dont realise they are adding bad water to their tank before it even gets food or poop put in it.

if all fails , then maybe you just got a weaker one and the moving from store to house was to much for his little self :( and theres nothing you could or can do..

Honestly... my osc. clowns use to sleep in the corner sideways. They've always had the strangest sleeping habits in my tank. I would find them resting on a rock... sleeping glued up against the wall.. just about anywhere. Yet they have outlived any fish in my tank and have survived a week long power outage due to hurricane, and newbie mistakes including extreme salt levels and ciano bloom.

Thanks for the advice guys. I tested my water and the nitrates and PH was a little too high so I did a water change, and now the fish are fine. Only problem now is getting them to eat. They completely ignore the frozen brine shrimp i give them. When i drop pellets in, they eat it but then just spit it out. How many days until should I start actually worrying about them not eating?

if they aren't excepting pellets try frozen Mysid shrimp or frozen brine mix up there diet or soak the pellets in Selcon for an hour then feed them to the fish
