I just received an email describing an event that will not happen for another 60,000 years. It seems that the planet Mars is the closest to earth that it ever gets. On August 27th it should appear as large as our full moon in the night sky. Evidently this remarkable experience has already started. It is currently the closest star in the sky next to the moon and rises from the east.

You guys with the big lenses are going to get some shots that will only be captured and shared for the next 750 generations.

Can't wait to see your treasures.

Hehe...I wish as well, Bobby. Actually saw that awhile back and it's not really true. The closest that Mars will get was in October of 2003.

Mars will get close in August, but not close enough as that time. You'll still see the red planet, but it'll be a bright red dot instead. I was quite disappointed as well since I was expecting to see a full size red moon up close.

What a bummer. The email had photos and all these statisctics...there is so much bull on the internet. I guess Benny and Jay will have to wait for another 60,000  years
