Hi,

I am extremely curious and am looking for 100% honest responses only!

It is said that Crofton, Maryland was the area of the initial Snakehead invasion in the USA. I have been an avid Maryland fisherman my entire life and have caught MANY MANY hundreds if not thousands of fish in Maryland waters. I practice catch and release only of freshwater Maryland fish species! With that said, I have never caught nor seen any Snakehead in Maryland waters. I also frequently talk with local fishermen and have NEVER heard a single one claim to have caught a snakehead in Maryland waters!

I hear that they are suppose to be a top predator, and that being the case should provide an excellent fight for rod & reel fishermen.

To all fishermen of Maryland waters:

1. Have you ever caught a snakehead?

2. What general area was the catch made?

3. What style/ method of fishing was employed when the catch was made?

Day 1:

Exactly ZERO fishermen of Maryland waters report catching "Snakehead" in the original "invasion State" of the USA. Very suspicious from a viable population of the apex predator in the waterway!!! An ultra "finicky" apex predator that will not hit live line, chunk, bait of any type, lures, jigs, top or bottom! Yep I believe it for sure!

This is interesting. I've heard the "horror stories" of snakeheads in Maryland. I just searched youtube "snakeheads maryland" and couldn't find 1 video of someone catching one there. Lots of people talking about them, but it's strange that there are no vids.... Apparently channa argus are the main species there. Might try some frog lures?... I don't know, I've never fished for snakeheads before.

You might try the fishing forum. There's no many people here from the states since snakeheads are illegal there. So, you are asking the wrong people.

theres a few members who catch them regular for the life of me i cant remember there names. pm a mod and ask them to move this to fishing forum

tough luck sorry.

Actually, even though Baltimore's murder rate is close to double Washington D.C.'s, and is really only comparable to two other sub-human cities in the USA (New Orleans & Detroit), I still consider it GREAT LUCK that we are NOT D.C.!

I think I can speak for ALL Marylander's. Don't blame us for D.C.

On a side not, with 12 pages of replies to the snakehead thread in the fishing forum (NO ONE HAS CAUGHT A SNAKEHEAD IN MARYLAND WATERS (The original local of the invasion).

Let me see, Over a decade since the invasive snakehead introduction to Maryland waters and now there is none? Can we agree that the snakehead is the single most pathetic and inefficient "invasive" in the history of fresh water?

Isn't it pathetic? In the beginning, it was, "Oh no!!! People lock your doors and grab your guns. They can walk on land and eat small pets and children. It's the Frankenstein fish from hell!!!!" I've lived in Taiwan for only 3 years, and originally from California where everything is illegal. I know how it goes. I've seen carp do some major damage where I used to fish there. I used to fish in this lake that had huge schools swimming around during the spring, spawning. They ate sunfish, bass, and other gamefish eggs. That's what you call an invasive.

Agreed.
