Maskaheros regani update

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Males usually have a prominently steeper forehead profile than females, and fin trailers that extend to points.
I believe the one below was male, but hard to tell unless a pair is right next to each other.
The one below also had a very macho and aggressive attitude, killing all tank mates, including 3 non-receptive female, and even a larger carpintus, and red devil in a 220 gal tank when it hit about 8".

Thanks for the info?
So far I’ve been lucky with this one. Keeping an eye on it. I am concerned about potential aggression. Definitely didn’t tolerate the other. They fought relentlessly so I removed the other and in a divided tank w/ a similar sized h. Deppi. Unfortunately the deppi got over the divider and killed the regani. This happened in a matter of hours when I wasn’t home. Couldn’t believe it. I believe deppi are one of those cichlids that aren’t found w/ other species so aggression might be higher IMO.
Edit: yours was really nice ?
