I have several empty tanks that I'll be moving fish from other tanks into. In addition, I'll be setting most of them up as species only tanks for breeding projects. I would love your thoughts and opinions.

Rock kribs-Paralabidochromis sp.-I was thinking sand/rockwork. I have the sand and it's set up for cichlids. What do you think?

Limia perugiae-I'm clueless. Any ideas? Sand set up for hard water/rockwork? Plants? I have no clue what the environment is in the Dominican Republic.

Ameca splendens-sand set up for hard water, plants, some caves?

Rainbow cichlids-I bought these as a breeding pair and they haven't bred. Somehow I'm thinking it's something I'm doing so any pointers on tank setup would be greatly appreciated.

Apistogramma cacatuoides-Sand, plants, rockwork, driftwood?

Amphilophus Amarillo-Lots and lots of "female-sized caves" in order to protect her from the aggressive attention of the male. Whatcha think?

Keyhole cichlids-low current, flat rock for laying eggs, river rock, plastic plants?

Laeteracara curviceps-low current, flat rock, sandy bottom, rockwork?

Rosy tetras-river rock, ...what else?

I know this is a lot, but I'd appreciate anyone's input and experience. I have other species I'm breeding as well, but I think I have the others set up properly.

Hi Marie,

Try this sometime...do a 50% water change making sure you do a good job vac'ing the substrate. When you add back the water, have it about 3 degrees (F) cooler than your tank water. Essentially, you are lowering your tank temperature 1.5 degrees. Set your heaters about 2 degrees lower for one day.

I won't promise that it will work, but I tried this recently and now have a nursery full of Pundamilia nyererei fry :)

Good luck!
