so i was wondering when an appropriate size would be to start feeding massivore pellets?

my 90 gallon is currently stocked with
7'' silver aro
6'' senegal bichir
6'' delhezi bichir
2x4'' indo datnoids
5'' TSN cat
2x3'' P. bass
5x2'' clown loach
3'' raphael cat

and just out of curiosity, how did you guys ween your fish on pellets? just for future references.

if your fish can swallow it, its the good time. You have to train your fish on pellet. It takes time. Search forum here you will find a lot infos. Good luck.

I crushed mine to feed my babies.... If they dont eat it, be sure to remove uneaten bait.

Just my opinion.... But I'd upgrade my tank size before worrying about switching foods.

He might have a tank cycling as we speak....

I do this with Hikari Cichlid gold, if the fish are too small to eat the mini pellets.

I agree that there will be space issues,

Is this 90 a grow-out tank, if not you will have a cramped TSN with a very full belly. :naughty:

Whenever you find that they can eat it you can feed them Massivore. You can feed them just Hikari carnivore pellets, they're the small version of Massivore.

live > frozen > pellets. is generally how I ween my fish. But I don't cut-out live or frozen completely from their diets either. I try and keep them guessing with a variety of foods.

Start as early as you can! I have small dats, loaches, pbass, bgk and fh all eating massivore. the loaches and bgk trim it down and the others come in a steal it when they can/think they can get it in their mouths. Its funny watching a 3 inch dat swim off with a chunk of massivore that doesnt fit, lol!

yeah, what they're in right now is just a grow out. i don't intend on keeping these beasts in a 90 at all haha.

there's a bigger tank for them in store. all of them are living pretty harmoniously amongst each other for now. i keep them well fed and there's almost (i say almost because i only have 2 dats so, there's dominance issues) never any aggression happening in my tank. it's my "baby monster" tank but only for a VERY short period of time though (: it's just nice to look at and i always catch myself zoning out to it lol

i tried crushing up the pellets to smaller bite-sized pieces but it's mainly just the aro that swoops them up from the floor but everything else prefers bloodworms, guppies, and MS. my bichirs will try to chew on it a few times but after a while they just get bored and swim off.

i want to get them on pellets because i want them to have a good mixed diet instead if just meaty live or frozen foods. i guess i'll have to try harder haha

i'll try the food sticks or cichlid gold for now but, thanks for the advice and concerns guys lol
