Im planning to get 5 long tailed east african eels, (Afromastacembelus frenatus) with one Tire track / flower. dunno what the /flower means but its some kind of tire track any how.

the Afro frenatus eel is documented as both mastacembelus and macgrognotus.. and it in the sticky eel-thread that tire tracks dosent do well with other mastacembelus. does this mean that they coop with macro?

cheers

It is possible to keep Mastacembelus and Macrognathus species together, but it doesn't always work out. You have to have plenty of space and hiding places to avoid territorial issues, and if you are adding them at different times, then it is best to do a water change and rearrange decorations and hiding places soon before adding the new fish.

So how bad can it turn out? I cant immagine these harmless looking eels fighing, but I guess they do. Do they stick to bullying or outright kill other eels if they dont get along?

I'll find out soon enough. Just put in an order for 1 Tire Track sp. Flower (fake name?) and 2 frenatus (east african spiny eel). Apparently the frenatus are really slim atm and look like worms, but they'r only 4 inches. The tire tack is about 6½ inches. Im gonna get alot of caves and pipes so they'll be happy enough

It probably just refers to the pattern, still the same species.

Yeah for some reason, spiny eels are often very skinny and underfed before they're sold. (idk why)
