What is the difference between the two? :nilly: Pictures would nice! :) Thanks.

This is what i was told how to tell them apart a patternless belly is a armatus, the belly it self being a shade of tan ( darker or lighter depending on surroundings and stress levels).. and a patterned belly is a favrus. ime Favs seems to be abit more "stout" in their general build as well.

If it's bigger then 24" its more then likely a armatus. favs seem to be stouter eels where arms seem to be abit more "eel" like. alot of arms in the media lounge. ill try and rememebr who has a fav.

Any difference in pattern?

I wouldn't go by pattern alone... as I've seen great variety in both species. But in general Favs patterns are more connected.

And pretty sure this one is a Fav. the short bodied appearance, lots of dark, and overall stout appearance. if the owner is still about love to see a belly pic. but it appears the pattern does wrap around the belly. about 90% of the TTs I see are arms, 5% random misc species like zig zags, 2.5% Favs, and 2.5% M Dayis ( at least in the past year)

That's my old TT, it didn't have belly pattern. My new TT around 8" has belly pattern. 1st time seeing one with belly pattern. I currently have M Dayi and M unicolor too :)

See.. pattern alone doesnt tell ya squat lol.. btw.. make with the Pics! You always have gorgeous stock... Lets see your spineys! ;)

Here is a photo of my 8"-9" eel. ID it? Favus or Armatus. Real bad shot but it's the best i can do with this eel. :P
