That's a channa pleurophthalma. Also known as ocellated snakehead. Its a very beautiful snake head. I have a 12" fellow and will post pic soon.

Um, no! You never release non-native fish into native waters. You are expected to dispose of the fish in a humane manner, ie: kill it nicely. It sucks, I know, but that's just the way it goes.
