Hi,

I am expecting my custom 6ft 180 gallon in the coming week or two and bought a 10mm yoga mat to place underneath. The mat is the correct with and length for the tank but has rounded corners that don't extend the full way out to the corners of the aquarium. I am unsure on how significant an issue this will be as 98% of the tank will be sitting on the mat fine. Would displacement from the weight of the tank press these corners out more or is it just pure compression down on the mat? Would just the corners not being on the mat cause unwanted pressure/twisting etc of the glass that could lead to cracking? The top of the stand it's going on is quite flat and level but I would be much more comfortable with a nice mat under there so I never have to worry.
Any insights are greatly appreciated!

Probably most important - what does the manufacturer recommend/require?

Otherwise, is it an acrylic or glass tank? If glass, raised bottom or full flat bottom?

Well he recommended the 10mm bit I only realised afterwards that the corners were rounded. It's a standard flat aquarium, 12mm braced float glass with optiwhite front.

Unfortunately I have no experience with flat-bottom glass tanks so I don't know what to tell you. Like you, I would think with the vast majority of the tank supported that it would be fine but the lack of support on the corners would always be in the back of my mind... Hope someone else can chime in!

I would use 15 or 20mm polystyrene sheet over a yoga mat but if your worried, get a longer yoga mat or cut some yoga mat offcuts for the missing corners. Probably easier to mate up a straight corner cut than keep the round corners.
