Do turtle's live in fresh water or are ther conditions a bit brackish ??? i know nothing about turtles but i find anything to do with animals quite interesting.rayman45 said:that is an alligator snapping turtle (ast)

WHY???!!! Why would you want to even try. If you asked about it, the possibility was already in your mind that this might be a bad idea. All that's needed is for the AST to "accidentally" bite the Mata mata while going after food. Result: Dead Mata mata. Those are two great turtles. Do them right and give them their own space.
I once had a 8" common snapping turtle bite the foot off a 12" red eared slider. mixing those two does not sound like a good idea. Great turtles, where did you get the Matamata? How much$?
No, I would't give the gator snapper a chance, you might end up with a dead Mata, so if you like I'll gladly take the mata off your hands.
