Hello MFK members!
I have a year old mata mata turtle and have recently noticed his shell looking “dry” and the bottom looking green. His diet mainly consists of feeder goldfish and eats like champ. He’s pretty active moving around approx 60 gallon tank. I have a FX6 filter connected to his tank and his pH level is what it should be as well as a heater maintaining the temperature at 80 F. Anyone with experience in mata mata turtles know what’s going on? I would really appreciate it, thank you!54E004CB-6213-4C7D-BC51-7572281AEED1.jpeg5AEB1BB0-AFE5-45BE-A1BE-40A842A3269A.jpeg626A41D2-9496-4F66-B2B7-99BC703254A2.jpeg

Dont know about mata matas but other turtles you should give calcium suppliment with their food. You might wanna try feed something else then feeders.

I'm not sure what you mean by dry looking but that is probably the lightest colored mata that I can recall ever seeing. It has algae growing on it's shell which I doubt will do it any harm.
I agree with the advice given in the previous posts.
