so I am "rescuing" 2x 10 in ornates. he said they were trying to mate. when I get them I am gonna keep them in a 125 till I find a bigger tank. can they stay mated, or will they try to kill each other. sorry to sound dumb but saw on a FB group that they will fight one another. I don't really care if they are mates, I am looking at it, as having 2 bichirs; not having a pair of mating. I just wanna make sure this is fine

How old are they? Ive read somewhere that they won't mate till they surpass a foot long. Regarding them fighting, that im not sure. Then again, lets hear it from the experts 
one is 11 and other he said is about 10. I am getting them from a guy who had them in a 55, so I am getting them an upgrade while looking for a 8ft tank, I have the money to get a new 8ft tank but while I have time, I am just looking for a used one.
Check out Dr B's reply on the Poly Saga....... post. Good info on sexing and mating behavior. IMO, Size does matter with spawning ornates. I found that they are sexually mature around 10in. Sound like you have a good plan. Good luck!
