After breeding mollies for cichlid food and throwing a couple dozen babies in the tank, one of the mollies escaped being eaten.
It's been about a year now and the adult mollie is constantly breeding or at least trying to breed with my Chocolate cichlid. It's leaving the Texas and Firemouth alone at least. I don't know if this is unusual but thought I would post it anyhow because it seemed strange to me. I can't imagine there's any chance of a new hybrid. Funny thing is the Chocolate doesn't seem to notice and completely igonores the whole thing. Even funnier is nobody is eating this fish and it appears to have become one of the gang.

That is very strange and freaky. It would not be surprising if two different types of Cichlids tried to breed… but a molly?!

I'm not suprised, the instict to breed is very strong. It would be impossable for them to do so however.
