I rescued a 12" ID to go into my 200 gallon pond along with my 30" ID. THey have been together since July 09. They get along great. So great that I swear I saw them doing the nasty, not just once either..:WHOA: ID sharks do not school in that position. I know they are live bearers. If I am right, how long is the gestation period of an ID? Has anbody had baby ID's in captivity? I have never heard anybody mention it before. I am still in shock. My 20 year old BOY is now a girl. LOL. Am I going to be a grandmommy to fish? It will be very interesting over the next few months, trying to tell if Blue is pregnant. I am starting to take pictures of Blue to keep a record. It would be nice. A second generation of my proudest fish acheivement. Will keep you posted.

Wow, this is something I will definitely follow. I didn't know they were live bearers either. Wow. Have you had Blue for the entire time, or how big was he when you got him? These are some of my fave cats. I have three myself, one albino 2 normal. :)

i didnt think that breeding in captivity was possible because of first size, and two, due to the migratory patterns of these fish to breed makes it difficult

it doesn't seem likely that they will breed, but heck of an accomplishment if it happens though

people breed ID's in ponds in other places... it is possible that they will breed.
