My motoro pair have been mating recently, about 2-3 weeks ago, and I'm concerned about the bite injuries the female has suffered. The male is still biting at the edges of the wound occasionally, although more in passing than non-stop :irked:

Is there any need to be worried?
Will the disc regenerate with time?
What do you think, any input appreciated.

Here's the pics :(

Hmmm looks bad. Only thing I can say is, keep an eye on the male. If the biting has stopped and she is eating, it will heal if the waterconditions are okay. Otherwise I would separate them.

Good luck!!

if your water conditions are good that should heal. if tank is big enough divide them.

Looks like it's just aggression to me, When my pairs are mating I tend to see biting in a specific spot on the ray and not along the outer edge of the disc. I would say looks more like just aggression and not being caused by mating. When mating i see bite marks on both sides of the tail and few inches up from the outer edge of the disc. She isn't to bad just make sure it does not get any worse or might want to remove one of them.

Any way to put a divider in the tank?.. the disc regenerates fast maybe she just needs a few days off..

divide or seperate her for a lil bit and she will be fine

Thanks for all the replies

Do you think it would be best to seperate the female into a smaller section on her own, or give her the run of the tank and put the male into solitary to cool down.

Now I just need sort out the best way to make a simple, quick and effective divider...... any suggestions?

i would also move the male and let the female stay

My female has bite marks on her disk in the same area, although not as deep. But, the tips of her pelvic fins really took a beating.
