Hello, I bought the female a few months ago, she is sold to me as a regular bp but she can fully close her mouth and shows up a little hump on the head while breeding. I mated her with one of my red dragons but the male refused to fertilize the eggs twice.

I had the male yesterday, the seller told that it is a midas-bp mix. He can close his mouth completely, he only has a little defect on the lower jaw. Also he has a little kok.

I put them in the same tank today and they started to show mating behaviour from the first minute.

So I want to ask, can ve consider the female as a kkp because she can close her mouth, or is it a regular bp?
And what you think about the male, if it is a midas-bp mix it has a chace of being fertile. But, if it is just a bp or kkp then he is infertile and I'll take him to my display tank.

Thanks, what should be the eye color of a bpXmidas then? I have seen that mix before and all of them had yellow eyes. As I know eye color is an indicator in fh hybrids, am I wrong?

Newer, cheaper strains of blood parrots coming out (not saying their worse) can fully close their mouth and are now becoming easily mis-identified as KKBP. You have a newer strain that is able to close the mouth. Some people think these are a lessor form of BP, yours look outstanding by any standard imho.

Thank you, I like my fish too. I saw other threads about new bp strains which can close their mouths. The female may be one of those or just a regular parrot that can close her mouth. I'm more interested in male, if it is just a bp like the female then as the camphihous said zero chance of fertility but if he is a midas bp mix then I can have fry looking like bp, kkp or round midas, round midas is my goal. His body is a little longer then the regular parrots and head shape looks like a bpXmidas IMO. Of course I'll never know before they breed.

Sadly even if they were Midas X Blood Parrot your chances of getting a fertile male is slim to none this is true with any hybrid having parrot blood.

Not true, breeding back to parent species can introduce fertility so if it is a truly a Midas x BP then it has a higher chance of being fertile compared to a normal Blood Parrot. But whether it is a fertile is anyones guess. I do like him though, very nice parrot.

Hello, they have laid eggs, today is third day. I checked in the morning, only one of the eggs had fungus. I'll check when I return home. How long should I wait to see if the eggs are fertilized or not?
