I was talking to my brother last night, about a mating pair of Jack Dempseys.Well I have a Male and he has a female,my JD is a little bigger then his.Should I set up the 29 gallon tank that I have at the house or should it be fine in my 55 gallon set up?Also,if he changes his mind,I did find a 6 inch JD at Petland, but the price is 40 dollars. :irked:I am sure its a 50 50,that they would breed though.

My 55 gallon isn't that small, its the long tank and my JD is only 5 inches, its not like he can grow as fast as a Oscar or a Jaguar.I did spot a 40 gallon tank, that isn't tall but the width is 18 inches.

That is why,I didn't bother going with it,cause I am not paying 40 dollars for a 6 inch JD,if I paid only 5 dollars for at the time 4 inch JD.That is petland for you,a rip off store, with over price animals. They had a 1 inch EBJD,for 25 dollars.

a 55 gallon should be ok (though bigger would be better) but definitely not a 29 gallon.

gotcha, well i know in a few months,I am going with the 120 gallon long tank or the tall 150 gallon tank, for my JD and Oscar.I figure the 55 gallon has tons of room surprisingly enough, since both are not even fully developed at the moment.Only the Tiger Oscar is the one growing faster then the JD.Oscar is 8 inches, while the JD is 5 inches.
