Hey guys here is an updated version on the sump I am going to build. I have decided to go with the matrix or substrat instead of bioballs... just a personal choice... what do you guys think of this design?

does your sump pump need alot of space? becouse if it doens't i woud make an extra last divider for bio filtraton . al the rest looks ok

You've got really weird dividers in there. The water level will be at the top of the highest one, at least until it gets to the pump section. Therefore, the way you have the media divided is pointless.

--Since your bio chambers will be completely submerged, the substrat pro is a good idea. bio balls don't work the same under water.

--Your final wall needs to be a lot shorter, other wise it defeats the purpose of the two walls prior. what you are trying to achieve is no bubbles in the pump section, so keep the first 2 of the 3 and make the third like 10cm tall or so.

the water level will sit at the second highest point... not the highest one....

unless there are holes in the bottom of the matrix chambers, which would make sense. You never indicated there were any though.

this is where the water will sit in the sump "hopefully"

At the bottom of each matrix section there is egg crate!! which was probably not clearly described....does this make more sense?....

Okay that makes sense. You've got it right, except for the section with the pump. It could be anywhere from where you showed it to just high enough for the pump to not suck air. The water level in that part will depend on how much water you put in the sump.

I agree with this, but only if you don't fill the sump up all the way. If you don't you will have a nice waterfall to listen to, and your pump will blow bubbles.
