matrix vs. pot scrubbers

Just as states, which Is more efficient / actually does a better job, and is easier to sruff in a rena xp3?
It appears matrix can be picked up fairly cheap online... about 20$ for 4 liters, which I believe... would fille a xp3 no?
Lets say given the fairly inexpensive cost of matrix, what would you guys go with matrix or the scrubbies?

As well does matrix if used, require media bags?

I would go with the matrix in a canister filter such as yours, If your were to go with a wet/dry trickle filter I think the pot scrubbies would be better.
