I'm thinking about doing away with my diy sump setup and I've been considering a corner matten filter setup.

Has anyone had success with one of these in a 125g with a medium to heavy stock?

I currently have about 30 mbunas.

If so, what would be the proper gph for something like this? I take it probably doesn't need as much as a sump or above 600gph?

Any reason why this might not work?

Thanks!

It should work, with a simple 450 gph power at minimum so a 600gph would be better. I was amazed that a sponge filter rated for a 40g tank and only on a 40g rated air pump kept the cycle for a 55g with a 12.5" (about the thickness of an adult wrist). You could always put more foam behind the corner matten filter if needed

Agreed. No matter the type of filter, the general guideline is a minimum of 3-5x tank volume/hour, so it looks like this should fit if it's 1703-2271 liters for a 473 liter tank.

I have two corner filters on my 210g that worked great with 3x10" festae and 8 full grown silver dollars. The kit from swiss tropicals would have a superlifter lift tube capable of 400-500gph, so your numbers look good. I'm very happy with them. 20211205_184943.jpg
