I have a 6 year old mature male retic he has successfully bred with my female 6 times and we have had 16 cute little babies. But I am thinking about selling him as I have another mature retic, a mature hystrix and a mature pearl. My retic has gotten to be quite the alpha male in the tank and is being pretty aggressive with the other males. My question is what can I realistically expect to sell him for and would there even be a demand or want for him??

In general rays are worth whatever people will pay. Retics are cheap but he is mature and a proven breeder so that increases his value. His appearance will factor in as well. Do you have a pic?

Amazing in the first picture ray to the left if your looking at the picture is mom of all litters.....He is a determined boy when it comes to mating he outcompetes the other males in the tank that are significantly bigger than he is.

imo the biggest issue with it will be finding someone with a mature female who wants him. otherwise he's just a big fishy pet, and with more colorful rays out there you'll be lucky to find him a good home let alone get a good price unless you get lucky. you'de prolly get much better money selling them as a "pair" my 2cts.

Yeah I am sure I would.... And I may as I will have 2 henlei, and I have 3 of her female offspring currently however I think they are all spoken for by miles. I hate to give up my only mature breeding female....

Since you can get a nice size motoro for about $150-$225(for a mature one,not a baby) I would say $125 would be top dollar for him.. If I were you, I would take trade offers for him, you might come out better with trades!!!
