ok i have a 220 gallon jus set up with a brand new ac110 and some other filter (i dont know the name) that does around 400 gph but that one was in my other tank. so im thinking that the old filter will speed the process up for the new filter n help break in the bio part of things. i also put 10 goldfish in there yesterday just to get food and poop in the rocks and stuff. how long do i need to wait before i put in the fish i really want in there cause not one goldfish died and they all swiming around really happily, no one treading water at the top or anything?

thanks

what are your water parameters?
to speed up the seeding of the new filter- squeeze the old filter pads into the new filter, other wise you're really slowing it down because the current bacteria in the old filter is taking care of the ammonia that the new bacteria need to grow.

no nitrites or amonia and ph of round 7.4... so if its slowin it down then should i jus add the fish i want and then when amonia levels get too much for the one filter the new one will kick in or what?

Is there any nitrate? If there is nitrate it would appear that the tank is cycled, if not then I don't think it could be cycled as without nitrate there is no evidence that there is bb in the tank.

Or I could be wrong?
