How do you tell the maturity of male and female rays?

I know that the males claspers get huge, but at what point does this happen?

I have a WC male motoro pushing 12" diameter. I know he's only about half grown, but his claspers are much smaller than other males his size that I have seen.

And females don't have claspers.. so how do you determine maturity on them?

This is my 9" male motoro I just picked up. I was curious as well if people thought he was "matured" and ready for a female and all the MFK veterans told me in fact he was. I am not sure if there is a certain age or size in which one is matured guess it depends on the ray but that's just a novice opinion.

Yeah.. you can't even see my males claspers at all like that. They are maybe an inch if that.

Females can generally breed at around 2 years with motoros sometimes a little sooner. When you see the claspers on a male open or unfold that is a good sign of them being mature.

A male should be nearing maturity by 12" for sure. Mine has had large unfolded claspers since maybe 9"-10" and less than 1 year old

my retic male is nearing maturity, i figure in the next 6 months he'll be ready, however, the female is a little smaller, so they will stay eggcrated apart until she is ready (or at least same/larger than he is). i'm currently wondering if he's a hybrid, or orb as he has outgrown her from being smaller than her when i first bought them.

That's the issue I have... both my male and female are WC so I don't know their age.

I think the female is mature.. but I am not sure. I have noticed she has been really agitated with the other rays lately, that's what made me think that.

But the male and female don't really interact much. And there's no sign of the males claspers unfolding, and they haven't gotten any bigger.

Man.. I hope he's not a dud. :(

Rays mature differently just like people. Some guys can grow a beard in high school at 17 and it may take others until theyre 25 to grow a beard

I'm not sure of another sure fire way to tell if a female is mature rather than having a mature male with her, but you can give her to me and I'll let my marble knock her up!

And the claspers should grow longer first, then roll up.

i have heard that if u keep a male with a mature female he will mature faster not sure how true this is but a thought

I think there is some DEF. truth to this Brent. I have my 12" prego female MM with a couple males, and they both have really started maturing lot faster than they were b4 i feel
