max pump size for use with a cpr cs50 overflow?

I am running a mag 5 right now....

but the output flow feels weak to me so I was going to upgrade to the mag 7.
I am also sure that pump has been found running dry a few mornings with no idea how long it was like that. So my mag5 might be a little worn too

sounds like u need a larger sump too / along with weekly W/C u wont run dry

CS50s are only rated for 300gph. I would be carefully adding too much more. I agree it sounds as though the Mag might be slowing down, but you may have to end up restricting the Mag 7.

It was found running dry because I was having problems with the overflow keeping the siphon. I fixed it and it doesnt happen anymore.

Its a 15 gallon sump on a 55g reef tank that I do a monthly 30% waterchange.
