ok i might be picking up a 280 gal soon, so do you think it be alright on the second floor of my house or no?:feedback:

I dont know my dad might get me a 125 he said basment if we get it i would go on the safe side

I would so no on this one. 280x8.3=2324lbs, not including the tank, the stand, ect..... that's just water weight.

i wudnt put it on a second floor... all ya need is a bigass fishtank fallin thru ur ceiling...lol i say play it safe put it on solid ground

alright thanks. ill see where i would be able to put it in my downstairs.

i have been told by a home builder that it depends on the age of your home. the builder told me that all new homes (built within the last 25 years, or so) should be fine. He said that house that are old (built prior to 1970, or so) should be examined and some might need the floors to be reinforced. i don't know how correct this is, but it does not hurt to call a local home builder and just ask.

This is what i did, prior to purchasing my 125 gallon. 280 gallons is another story and another 1,000 lbs or so. I'd check with a professional.
