on that you can also connect the tube to an air pump if you want more air or want to pump air down a deeper tank as I found that the power head having a hard time getting air down more than 13'' deep of water.Question is unclear... in what form are you using the pump, and how do you want to connect it to airline tubing? If you are using as a power head, there is a place to slip an air tube in that will pull air into the outflow stream of the pump.
so you hook an air pump up to an powerhead venturi? I am in a 75 gallon so only 15", but I can get a lot more flow (of air) down the tube than I want, I have a valve on the suction line to limit air draw. I guess it would all depend on the power of the powerhead, since the venturi runs on pressure differential...on that you can also connect the tube to an air pump if you want more air or want to pump air down a deeper tank as I found that the power head having a hard time getting air down more than 13'' deep of water.
I have the maxi jet 1200, I guess it might be weaker than normal for a new one. I would start getting air just fine for a minute and then it start to skip air every 5 sec. Maybe if i take the strainer out it would do better.so you hook an air pump up to an powerhead venturi? You mean the little air filter gizmo, right? That thing can block air flow, especially if it gets wet. I don't think it is all that necessary, although it is in place on my setup.I have the maxi jet 1200, I guess it might be weaker than normal for a new one. oh... looks like in "utility mode" (assuming you have the parts for conversion) this model can push a maximum of 6 feet of head. If you plan to connect tubing to it in "powerhead mode" you will also have to plug the venturi, as it will spew water out if there is any head on the main outlet. I an not confident that you would get much head out of the powerhead mode, but $3 worth of tubing could answer the question... just find a size that fits and jam it on.I guess my reply didn't post. I wanted to attach the tubing to the output of the pump to move water from a holding container into my tank
