maximum water level

What would be the maximum water level for bichirs? I know they breath air. But I know if the level is to high they risk drownding.
I recently came accross a black arowana for a really good price. So I'm getting ready to upgrade the tank. I want it high enough where the bichirs and aro arnt on top of eachother. But don't want to risk drownding a bichir.

3-4' deep is not going to bother them. They're found in deeper water in the wild.
Just make sure there is room at the top for the to grab a breath. Usually 1-2" from the surface of the water to the lids.

Give 1-3" at the top to give them room when they come up so they do not injure themselves on the hood. The larger the bichir the more clearance you should give.

OK. mine are only about 8" right now. I now want a pike fish!
