May actually get a FH! (kinda)

My mom has been sad ever since we sold the family oscar. So I set up a 10 gallon community tank, she didn't really care. Turns out she wants a big fish in a big tank! I show her some Flowerhorns and she really wants one now. She loves the ones with the big head. I suggested Short Body because Its only going to be 55 gallons. She wants to raise one from a small size. So right now I'm looking for SB Fry 1" - 2" coming from Big headed FH either Kamfa or ZZ RD. There needs to be pearls, red, and yellow.
So I(I mean my mom hehe) might get FH. Is it weird to be so excited over a fish that I might not even get? lol
 
Hey if you can get the people around you to love what you love, then you've got it all.
As it goes for me.... well my mother can't stand my fish keeping. I think it has to do with having to many tanks, a few ponds, and pool lol
 
If you really like the SB fh then u should get one...but if the tank size is the concern a 55 is cool for a fh...and really it will take at least 2 yrs for it to out grow a 55 so you would have time to scrape up some change for a 100+
it says your in new mex...not sure what the fh scene is like out there but if your looking go to the mfk marketplace there are some imported king kamfa fry and 3.5" king diamonds from albert those should have big kok's...(kamfa takes longer to fully mature so you might want to look into one of those)GL
 
Thanks. I knew of one FH keeper in NM on here. I think his username was Mr.Gillz . I saw a Female FH for sale on Craigslist and it looked like his. I don't see him on the forums anymore though :(

That really depends on the fish itself. I've had numerous fish that out grew a 55 within 10 months (since it hatched - not since I bought them).

so you got 10 months thats plenty of time...I got my baby fh in a 30 right now
there are 100+ tanks used and in good condition around if you look real good
 
Fengshui has some nice SB flower horns.
 
There were some amazing Sb flowerhorns posted in the marketplace last week. Decent price $$$ they looked great.
 
A short body can and will out grow a 30 gallon. Get yourself one of those mini-mi punkin looking bonsai. They are real cute with a heart of a regular size flowerhorn...and can get real big head as well.
