Of course there are fishkeeping clubs. I'm a member myself of the Queensland Aquarium Hobbyists.
There is bound to be at least half a dozen clubs in every state of America, I'd imagine. Some LFS may have intel on where these clubs are. Search on google for Illinois fish clubs. You may find something pretty.

Well theres some good info, but theres usually a quick reference to clubs and meets in the back of fish magazines, I know they have them in TFH, and AFM.
