Hi everyone i have resently aquired a large mayan cichlid and he looks a little thin any suggestions on care for him would really help im feeding him sinking cichlid pelets at the moment but hes not eating much do they eat a lot???? at the moment hes in a 100 gal with some rocks and sticks again any suggestionswill help thx

He could be refusing to eat due to stress or illness, but I'd try some of the more-foolproof food items like chopped shrimp, live nightcrawlers, or frozen food. Exactly which you choose depends on his size.

Going off your name, would I be right in assuming that you caught this guy? Since they are often fished in the same areas as peacock bass in the US

Ahh, okay. I was going to say, it can be tough to get wild caught fish to adjust to tank life and feel comfortable enough to eat. If he has been living in a tank for a while though (or his whole life), shouldn't be a problem. Mayan, like most cichlids, should have a voracious appetite. How long have you had him? Is the tank cycled? What decorations are in it? There are a lot of things that could make him not feel comfortable enough to eat. One thing that can stimulate his appetite would be soaking the pellets in garlic. But if the water is no good, he might be too stressed to eat.
