Okay so I've been sitting with a 55 gal in my bedroom for the past six months waiting to move before I stocked it.

So recently me and a buddy of mine have been using mayan cichlids for snook bait but the snook only look at ones that are right around 4" anything smaller or bigger and they just turn their noses to them. And we kind of ran threw the 4" ones in my lake/canal. But we can get 1-2" ones quite easy still.

So I was wondering how long it would take them to grow to 4"?

Also about how many I could keep in a 55gal tank?

Night crawlers and bread an okay diet for them?

Sorry if this makes anyone upset that we use these beautiful fish as bait but hey they're everywhere in my area so ;)

people on here love thier fish so prides a moth**f*****. but i might as well help since im an avid fisherman. if the fish is 1-2 inches in two-three months u should have a 4 inch fish.

Thanks man. And I know everyones a lover on this site. If it was anything that wasn't easily found around me I wouldn't be doing it hahaha. But to each his own I guess. Can't wait to she the responses once setup on Monday lol

Should I maybe go the extra route and buy cichlid pellets?

That is a nice looking fish though to use for bait :)
