I recently got a 2.5 inch Mayan cichlid, I'm wondering how aggressive they are when adults?

It already seems somewhat aggressive. Beating up a much larger goldfish and harrassing a reedfish.

of course as with all cichlids their temperament will vary from fish to fish, but some mayans are just as aggressive as red devils or real red terrors. an lfs in Indy has several mayans ranging in the 5-6" range in a 300 gallon display, and they don't take any crap from fish much larger than themselves. if yours is that small and already showing aggression then it will only get more aggressive as it gets bigger. :)

Mines 6.5 and Live in my mixed race tank..

thanks for the replies, though I've realized it's not a mayan, it's a red terror.

It has those block patterns running down the sides, not just stripes, and it's coloured up a bit more, has a very red tail with blue dots.

SHow us a picture...!!
