Mayan cichlid making a sand nest.

Does anybody have info on this? My mayan cichlid has made a nest (down to the glass) in my aquarium and I’m wondering if theres anything I need to know or anything I should do to make sure my fish is comfortable.

It's normal behavior, the fish is hitting maturity and signaling than it's looking for a mate by making a beautiful big fry pit.

Ooo exciting! Thank you for the reply i had to reposition the bigger rock because if he or she dug anymore sand from under it it could have cracked the glass. And he or she is already back at it making a new nest, real cool!

As soon as I fill them in my boy Casper digs them back out.....
