so i have that little mayan cichlid and he is pretty simply colored a green ridge round the eye spot on his tail and a lil green shine on his sides most of the mayans i have seen are much more colorful then mine is that becasue mine is really young that it hasnt gotten any colors yet its bout a inch and a half. i would like this guy to turn out a very colorful fish but right now i aint seeing no stunna in it. i have been feeding alot of brineshrimp to bring out some red but it hasnt brought any out yet. so what do you guys think. is he gonna stay a ugly lil brown black green fish or is he gonna get his stripes and red as he gets older.

I was sold one of these as a Red Terror. The colour is very dull but as with yours it is very young. I don't expect the colours to be like the vivid terror but I hope they get better.. but from the images I have seen online I am not getting my hopes up.

yea he is verry young idk it just confused me because with flower horns and jd it seems when there babies you can see some potential.

here is one of my wildcaught mayans as you can see theres almost no color
sorry for the bad pic

Most cichlids have better color when they are older. Mayans color up better when they are the dominant fish in the tank (meaning their is competition), fed well, and of course if you really want to bring out the colors get a breeding pair.

looking at that pic i aint even sure if i have a mayan cichlid any more

um i physicaly cant get a pic he moves and is to skittish
