If you read my post titled "Bonded Males" this will make more sense but.....

My smaller "male/female" atabapo is rounding out. Not sure if it's just eating better or if it's possibly holding eggs. Loking down from the top, there is a SLIGHT bulge 2/3's down the body and from the side at the dorsal fin, it's definitely more rounded than the larger. This fish has shown head shaking and side presentation to the larger and has been showing a peachish-pink blotch at around the 2/3's area of the body. I wish I had a damn camera to show pictures. Guess time will tell but it's amazing how bonded these fish are to each other.

Generally females will start to develop a 'beer' belly for lack of better terms. They just get really plump...lol. Males generally stay the same body shape, but females will distinctly have a more robust belly. If it continues to turn pink/red also, its very probable that it IS indeed a female...:D. Perhaps you could catch them and vent them? Tis difficult, but can be done!
