I've always wanted my 90g to be my "show tank". It's currently stocked with just an 11" Oscar. I had to remove all other tankmates b/c the O went berserk and has decided he won't tolerate any other fish in that size tank.

I'm afraid I might have to take the O to the LFS if I can't find a good home for him. I just can't keep him alone in the 90g when I've always wanted to stock a community in it. Sigh... ok anyways.

If I redo this tank, I'd love to stock with smaller (<6") CA and SA males. I have access to all of these species but am not too familiar with many of them. Does conspecific aggression apply to all Cryptoheros species? In other words, can I only have one Cryptoheros male in my tank?

Okay, here are the species I have access to buy. I want all males...

- Convict (already have and love! so he's definitely going in the tank)
- Cutteri
- HRP
- Cryptoheros spilurum
- Keyhole
- Firemouth
- Multispinosa
- Cryptoheros nanoleutus
- Curviceps
- Blue Acara

I'd love to do one of each: convict, cutteri, HRP, firemouth, multispinosa, nanoleutus. Would this be too crowded?

Hmmm if you have the right deco i always thought blue acaras and firemouths always look nice together but i just think that because of the colours right deco nice show tank?? not really sure i am sure more smarter experts will give you ideas :D

Yeah, I agree, most of those you listed there would be good in a tank that size, especially the firemouths, acaras and the rainbows (mulitispinosas), and if like you said, all of them would be less than 6 in long so..........from the sounds of it, you will have the kind of tank you want there natalie!

Go for the centrals, Convicts, HRP, Cutteri, Nano's, Spirulum, maybe a Firemouth.

How many you stock is completely up to you, but I'm a fan of smaller centrals like you've listed, especially Cutteri and Spirulum.

Edit: Nevermind you're actually doing that, I don't think that will be overcrowded with 1 of each species.

Another option is to go all South Americans, say 2 Keyholes and 3-4 Curviceps, and mix in Corydoras, Tetra, Plecos, etc.

Instead of a blue accara I would go with a GT. I like the fire mouth choice and I think it will look great in a 90.

sounds like a cool tank i would be careful with the nano's though, they might get picked on

I'd do cutteri, hrp, and nanoluteus. I've been waiting to clear out a tank and get them all together myself. I have all of them already, and I love them.. They're just scattered out everywhere else.

same im think of doing it on a much smaller scale in a 45 gallon

Green terror with Multi's and Keyholes:confused:

Some of your post's amuse, other's just rock the boat. :grinno:

I, personally have never been one for the mess and exagerated maintainence of a community setting, therefore my adice. Midas are perfectly suited to a 90g.;)
