maybe someone can tell me where i went wrong

ok so i guess im writing this so i wont make the same mistake again if any. i had three plecos i really have no idea what kind, i got them from a wal mart about a year ago. they seemed fine then in a period of about a week they all three died. my water chemistry was in check and they were in a 125 gallon. i know its just a longshot that someone would know what happened they seemed really healthy and had grown alot.

what is your temp?
how menny water changes you do in a month?

Plecs poop a lot.. and with 3, even in a 125g.. that's still a lot of poop!.. Maybe your filteration was not sufficent and the water quality could have gone south in no time...

It's going to be very difficult or even impossible to figure out what truely happend.. just make sure your filteration is good, your temp is good, and do plenty of water changes if you plan on having plecs again..

i have an fx5 running, my temp is about 75 degrees, water changes are about monthly and i fed algae wafers with a mix of carnivore pellets and shrimp pellets

For sure one WC a month was a problem, WC's should be done weekly.. and possible overfeeding along with that.

Good for you and trying to better your fishkeeping habits!

So now really think about what species you want to put in next.. with a 125g you have lots of options..
