I've decided to rehome my mbu puffer. He is becoming agitated when the temps are going above 85. Unfortunately my fish room is in my garage and it's hard to keep the temp below that when the sun is out. Rather than have him die to extreme heat or beat up on tank mates I want to find him another suitable home.

He is a conservative 4+ inches not including tail. I'd rather under size him than say he was 6 inches and be wrong. Can't exactly pull a puffer out of water to measure it :P His name is Hank and is accustomed to eating the following: Market Shrimp, Clams on the half shell, Scallops, pieces of market fish, and bloodworms.

I obtained him at the size of 1.5 inches. He was put into a 37 gallon quarantine tank for 3 weeks along with some guppies, a bristlenose pleco and australian rainbows. While in this tank he went through deworming routines in accordance to the puffer forum recommendations. I have been intentionally socializing him from the day I got him in an effort to have the end result be a more docile mbu puffer.

This is him 4 days after I got him. Was so tiny back then!

He is indeed docile, in fact I can't get him to eat any live food now. I've tried ghost shrimp, earth worms, black worms, cherry shrimp, snails etc.

After 3 weeks in quarantine he was moved into my custom 300 gallon 6'x5'x18 tall. He has lived there ever since and lived with a big group of clown loaches, 12inch + giraffe cat, some fancy plecos, brochis corydoras etc.

Unfortunately recently I started noticing some nip marks on my 4 inch goldie pleco, then a nip mark on my Siamese algae eater. It would turn out that this behaivor happens when the temperature is elevated in the fish room. His activity level goes up and does not like it when fish sit on top of him etc.

To further test this theory, I intentionally moved a few ranchu goldfish into the tank. Being that they have no regard for other fish, and will bump into other fish, I figured I'd be able to catch him in the act. No such luck, but a couple days later after a sunny day, I came home from work and one of the ranchus had 2 bite marks on his tail fin.

Tonight I was able to witness him nipping a 3 inch brochis corydora. The corydora went to clean up some left over scallop and a nip on the tail fin sent the cory off the other way. Barely a mark on the fin at all, but proof none the less for me. 2 Minutes later the corydora was right back in Hank's face but this time the food was gone and Hank didn't care with such a fat belly!

I've had this guy since December. About 7 months now. It took a few months to fully deworm him as he was passing worms, then wouldn't eat for a few days. I didn't want to put too much stress on his small body. As of a few months ago, he's putting an inch on a month now. I feel confidant that he is fully dewormed now.

Im looking for a good home for Hank, and I'm only looking for a fair price. $150. A place for pets in burien has mbu pretty often. I had been watching them for over a year, however they always had eating problems etc. Their going price has been 150-180.

I believe I've done all the right things to insure he will grow to maximum size and is fully healthy now. If you're looking for a Mbu, Hank is as good as they come ;)

Please keep in mind that the bare minimum for a MBU puffer is considered 300 gallons or atleast a 30 inch front to back depth.

I'm really hoping someone like Shua or someone else with with tanks similar to my dimensions to mine will be interested in this special guy.
