I am looking to buy a MBU puffer from a LFS . Its a baby one but the coloration is really dark. The ones I have seen are nice and green with beautiful green tales. I wonder if that is because its a baby, and the coloration will change? Or if its dark as a baby it will stay dark when it gets bigger?

It's probably stressed or sick .

I agree, stressed and/or sick. Keep in mind that ALL Mbu puffers are collected in the wild, and not all of them survive the stress of collection, transportation, etc.

This is what a typical juvie looks like. I would guesstimate the size of this mbu at 4-5". A bit on the skinny side, but as you can see the coloration is bright & clean.
