I was looking for some fish ideas for tank mates with my puffer? Right now I have a loach, a green terror, n a big old ornate bichir eel that is being rehomed(he ate my gar and 2 of my Geos) n is feed well so don't even understand why he keeps eating my fish. my puffer is a nice guy seems to like everyone he's been with so far.

Seems to be hit or miss with any kind of puffer. The loaches are too fast anyway but possibly the GT could be a problem.

When puffers nip to check tank mates they remove what they nip. Generally mbus need to be kept alone save maybe extremely fast fish like barbs or a pleco or cat they never see

I would say it depends on how large a tank you have and what filtration it has on it...

I have found that non-aggressive dither fish really worked well with our Mbu and also, most Tanganyikan cichlids. Mbu are actually quite timid and can be bullied by smaller fish (our 8" frontosa used to push around our adult Mbu...). The Green Terror may become an issue but you will have see how it goes. Also, I would avoid fish that are either too slow or too dumb to figure out not to get between the Mbu and his food. That only tends to end one way.

Best of luck with it.
